Mixed ion exchange resin will continuously remove the impurities from the water by ion exchange. Meanwhile, the electroly to stream flows past the anode and cathode in series, the applied current also drives a water splitting reaction which products hydronium ions (protons) and hydroxylions. These ions continuously regenerate the ion exchange resin so that it will continue to remove impurities from the feed water. At the same time, re-displaced cation and anion from the feed water will permeate into concentrate chamber by some times , redisplayed cation and anion from the feed water will permeate into concentrate chamber by some times reverse osmosis. As result, a portion of stream is drained continuously back to keep the conductivity, while the other portion of concentrated produce continuously into the sewer tunnel.
